A moving op-ed in the New York Daily News from a host on Airbnb, Kimberly, about how home-sharing has helped her thrive in the aftermath of a chronic, debilitating illness:
Now, for a few days each month, we vacate our one-bedroom apartment, bunk with a friend or family member and rent out our place. Our monthly Airbnb earnings are modest — less than the amount available through unemployment benefits. But it’s the difference between keeping our chins above water and drowning.
The sense of purpose Airbnb has brought back to my life, however, is priceless.
